Sprucing up the lounge for Christmas

Throughout the festive holidays, we Brits spend a lot of time in our lounges. Many of us eat in there, watch television in there, play games in it and generally celebrate in the vicinity. That's why it's so important to make this room in particular feel festive, as it can help boost the holiday spirit and keep everyone lively after their massive Christmas lunch!
So first things first, the Christmas tree. Not everyone enjoys having a tree, but if you do, then the first decision you need to make is whether to go for a real or fake tree. Its entirely up to you, but a lot of real-tree lovers enjoy the smell they get from those green pine needles. Decorating it is something the kids enjoy doing, but if they are young and perhaps a little over-imaginative (!), then why not take the chance overnight to re-jig the decorations a little bit - they'll never notice.
Make the most of your walls and other areas too, though - don't just rely on the tree. For example, you could place your choice of Christmas ornaments on the fireplace or mantelpiece. Alternatively, drape some tinsel or berry strings along your bay window curtain poles, giving the windows a festive touch. If you want to go a step further, why not decorate the windows with some spray-on snow? This, whilst fun, should remain an adult activity - unless you fancy spending hours scraping it off the middle of the window!
But wait, there's more...don't forget the door frames! That's right, door frames. These are perfect for any spare tinsel you've got at the back of that old cupboard. Simply place one end of the tinsel at the top of the frame and drape it down to the bottom, affixing it with sellotape or blu-tac. This makes you feel as if you're walking into a Winter Wonderland and adds a touch of extra colour to the entire room.
Happy decorating!
