Matching your worktop with your kitchen
Homeowners have long opted for granite or silestone worktops for all the benefits they offer. Not only are they tough and attractive, but many now come with antibacterial agent built into the stone, meaning they are hygienic as well as attractive.
However, what many don't realise is that granite worktops do not always have to look like the traditional stone design that often comes to mind. With new technologies and designs, you can go for anything from bold block colours to more mottled or marbled looks.
So going on the theme of your kitchen, what colour and design of worktop would work best for you?
Futuristic
If your kitchen is something of a brushed steel and carbon fibre design, boasting all the mod cons, then silvery worktops should fit the bill nicely. With chrome or steel coloured designs, you can finish off the look of the kitchen with a modern worktop that looks as futuristic as the rest of your kitchen as a whole.
Rustic
If, however, your kitchen takes more from the look of a country pantry than it does the Starship Enterprise, then something a little more bucolic should fit the bill. Wood will of course fit in with the rustic look of your kitchen, but wood surfaces can be difficult to keep and stain easily. In such a case, granite worktop with a mahogany finish will keep well but still fit in with the kitchen's overall aesthetic.
Quirky
If you have a kitchen filled to the brim with quirky paraphernalia and countless trinkets, something a little more vibrant and fun will be the order of the day. Vivid oranges, blues or greens can bring a sense of fun to the kitchen, reflecting the personality of the homeowner just as much as fitting in with the rest of the kitchen itself.
Given that many people are now spending just as much time in their kitchen as their living room - if not more so - ensuring it looks good but still does the job at hand has never been more important, and worktops like this provide the perfect finish.
